When the prophecy first came to Leif and me to have a prayer force covering our ministry and family, my first thoughts were somewhat fearful. Isn't it just like the devil to shoot when we are being given this great advance warning from the Lord? I immediately began to worry about this word. What is going to happen? Is Leif going to be martyred? My flesh is definitely weak from time to time.
 
Then, through the grace of God, I began to see this as a time of preparation.  Since this prophecy was given, the ministry has been thrown into accelerated activity.  As we hang out with others devoted to the Gospel, we are hearing the same thing...ACCELERATION!  What a privilege to be a part of this time in history.

Now, back to Gideon.  The name of our prayer force is Gideon 300.  Gideon is my kind of guy.  He knew better than to advance without the  confirmation of the Lord.  When Gideon came to choose the army of the Lord, his first command was to those who were faint of heart.  He told them to go home.  If you have any qualms about joining this army, don't, go home!  It is alright.  Being involved in this ministry will definitely put you in the battle.  

Next, it was time to size the army down.  That definitely goes against reason, but this too was for a purpose.  The battle would be won to the honor of the Father.  So, we have come to those of you who cupped your hands to drink rather that lapping like a dog.  Do you see the significance of this?  From a prone position lapping the water, a person is easily overtaken.  The ones who cup their hands are more quickly ready to get on the move!

Gideon had his weak moments and failures, but he was still God's servant.  If you can easily see yourself in Gideon's weakness, can you also see yourself being willing to serve?  Remember, Gideon was a man who obeyed God by giving his attention to the task at hand.  Giving your full attention to believing God, will prepare you for tomorrow when it comes (taken from NASB Life Application Study Bible).
